Essential Functions

1. Maintain a qualified staff with involvement in recruitment, retention, and performance management. Provide leadership for employee relations and problem resolution through effective communication, coaching, training, and development. Ensure personnel are in a position for success, both for the individual and the company.
2. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including developing goals for the department and implementing efficiencies.
3. Maintain Fixed Assets and associated depreciation schedules to ensure proper recording of new purchases and disposals of property. Create all associated journal entries, reconciliations and annual property tax returns.
4. Perform, examine, and analyze daily banking entries and reconciliations.
5. Prepare daily journal entries to report sales and inventory adjustments from external sources into our financial reporting software.
6. Ensure the integrity of the financial statements and associated general ledger accounts, complying with GAAP and company policy. Research and communicate any discrepancies or issues with the Controller.
7. Administer and reconcile monthly corporate credit card process.
8. Provide support to the Controller with budget and forecasting activities.
9. Act as a liaison to external accounting firm for year-end close and review.
10. Professional proficiency with Excel, Sage, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Supervisory Responsibility
This role manages the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the accounting department. This position is responsible for carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policy and applicable laws and uses performance management coaching and training to maintain a productive team.
Education and Experience
1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration or related field; or high school diploma or GED with equivalent experience.
2. Experience and knowledge of GAAP (General Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations.
3. Two or more years experience and knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting, etc.)
4. Professional proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 40 plus hours per week. The regular shift start time is 8:00 am – 5:00 pm with additional hours based on daily need. This is an exempt level position.
Travel
Occasional travel to other company locations (Bend, Roseburg, Coos Bay and Newport), and industry conferences and professional training.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Employee must meet company standards for driving a company vehicle, pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
